Stamped concrete

...is a method that creates a truly unique and distinctive surface that realistically resembles the natural look of stone or brick. These natural looking patterns, colors and textures can be made to resemble brick, fieldstone, cobblestone and slate - to name a few. Many other patterns and textures are also available.

Newly placed concrete can include a wide array of colors available for stamped concrete. Certain colors are available through acid or pigment staining. The cost of stamped concrete is substantially less than other less durable surface materials and you are able to achieve an eye-catching, property enhancing appearance on walkways, patios, pool-decks, driveways, walls, steps and interior surfaces through the use of a wide variety of patterns, textures and colors.

The stamping/texturing process:

1. The site is excavated, graded and a layer of crushed stone or gravel is placed down to provide a uniform substrate and adequate drainage.
    
2. The designated area is formed to contain the concrete and the concrete is poured, leveled and bullfloated to produce a uniform surface and imbed the coarse aggregate below the surface.
    
3. A coloring agent is then broadcast over the surface followed by a release agent to prevent the stamping or texturing tool from adhering to the still plastic concrete.
    
4. A stamping or texturing tool of the chosen pattern is then tamped or rolled into the concrete and a unique surface that combines the beauty of real stone with the durability and cost-effectiveness of concrete is produced.
    
5. The release agent is washed off, expansion and control joints are placed to prevent cracking and a high quality sealer is applied to enhance the surface colors and protect the decorative concrete from staining and fading.
